New pastor takes over at St. Louis Catholic Church

Fr. Keith O’Hare will be officially installed as the new pastor of St. Louis Catholic Church next Tuesday the Diocese of Arlington announced last week.

O’Hare takes over for Fr. Matthew Zuberbueler, who had been pastor since 2013. Zuberbueler is now pastor of Saint Anthony of Padua Parish in Falls Church.

“St. Louis is a wonderful parish and I consider it a tremendous privilege to be appointed as the new pastor,”  O’Hare said in a statement.

St. Louis, located on Popkins Lane in Groveton, is one of the largest churches in the Richmond Highway area with more than 6,700 parishioners. 

O’Hare, 45, was born in New York City and grew up in Fairfax County, attending St. Leo School and Paul VI High School. He attended college at the University of Miami and George Mason University.

O’Hare was ordained as a priest in 2002 after attending the St. Charles Borromeo Seminary. He was a priest at Queen of Apostles Church in Alexandria before moving to Our Lady of Angels Church in Woodbridge in 2007. Since 2008 he has served as pastor of San Francisco de Asís Mission in Bánica, Dominican Republic. 

A musician who plays both the saxophone and guitar, O’Hare recorded a seven-song jazz album named “All is Well” earlier this year.
