Police blotter: Victim cut while fighting off robbery attempt Friday night

A man and woman walking home Friday night were mugged by a pair of men who pulled a knife and slashed one of the victims, according to today’s Fairfax County Police blotter.

The incident happened around 11 p.m. in the 7200 block of Richmond Highway (see map). The two victims were approached by the  assailants, who told the couple to hand over their money. The victims refused, and the muggers began assaulting the couple, police said.

At some point in the fight one of the assailants pulled a knife and cut one of the victims. The victim — police did not say whether it was the man or woman — suffered what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.

Both assailants fled the scene on foot. They were described as being black, about 25-30 years old and between 5 foot 10 inches and 6 foot 2 inches tall.
