Police blotter: Pizza deliveryman scares off would-be robber

A pizza deliveryman managed to fend off an armed robbery attempt late last night, according to today’s Fairfax Police blotter.

The driver was making a delivery in the 4300 block of Birchlake Court in the Pinewood Lake neighborhood (see map) around 11 p.m. when a young man approached him, police said. The assailant demanded property from the driver and pulled a gun. Police say the driver then “challenged” the robber, and the assailant ran away.

Police say the suspect, believed to be a teenager, was seen leaving the area on a bike. They described him as 5 foot 6 inches tall and thin.
