Fire department’s ‘Busiest Company’ award goes to Mount Vernon’s Engine 409

The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department announced today that Engine 409 from the Mount Vernon fire station was the department’s “Busiest Company” of 2016.

Engine 409 responded to 3,502 calls last year, edging out Engine 410 from the Bailey Crossroads station, which was 2015’s busiest company.

The Penn Daw fire stations’s Engine 411 was the third-busiest company, responding to 3,307 calls in 2016.

According to a fire department press release, Engine 409 will get a honorary sign for the truck — as seen in the photo above — as well as a special dinner for the company. 

Both Mount Vernon (Station 9, known as “The Workhorse of the Highway”) and Penn Daw (Station 11, known as “The Pride of the Highway”) ranked high in a number of categories in the department’s Top 10 Activity Report, which was released last month:
