Police blotter: Man allegedly uses belt during assault

A man was injured after another man assaulted him with a belt in the 7200 block of Fordson Road yesterday, according to today’s police blotter.

A 42-year-old Alexandria man faces charges of malicious wounding, assault and battery, and drunk in public.

Police say the incident happened around 6:45 p.m. when the suspect allegedly yelled at a man at a nearby gas station before proceeding to chase the victim and hit him with the belt.

The victim was treated for what police described as non-life-threatening injuries.
