Police blotter: Man allegedly assaults officers after arrest at 7-Eleven

A man suspected of shoplifting allegedly became combative with police after they tried to arrest him early Tuesday morning, according to today’s police blotter.

The 22-year-old suspect faces charges of petit larceny, resisting arrest, obstruction of justice, drunk in public and three counts of assault on a law enforcement officer.

Police say they responded to a call around 3:45 a.m. about a man shoplifting from the 7-Eleven at 8010 Richmond Highway. When police arrived, the suspect was allegedly walking away from the store with merchandise. As officers attempted to take him into custody, he allegedly began assaulting them.

None of the officers required medical attention.
