A pedestrian was struck by a car yesterday afternoon near the intersection of Richmond Highway and Lockheed Boulevard in Hybla Valley.

The 38-year-old woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital, according to a police spokeswoman.

The collision happened around 4:45 p.m. when a 2013 Kia Forte traveling northbound hit the pedestrian while she was trying to cross Route 1. The 22-year old driver stayed on the scene, and no charges are expected, the spokeswoman said.

The crash shut down all the northbound lanes of the road and one southbound lane for a short time. All lanes were reopened before 6 p.m.

The Lockheed Boulevard intersection was included on a 2016 police list of the most dangerous roads for pedestrians. Upgrades to make it more pedestrian friendly were completed last fall
