A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the brand-new baseball and softball fields at McNaughton Park on Pole Road will be held Saturday at noon, according to a Fairfax County Park Authority press release.

The Woodlawn Little League, which has used McNaughton since the 1960s, kicked off play at the new fields last weekend.

Starting in Jan. 2016, McNaughton was completely overhauled by the county. The four fields were redone, and new covered dugouts, bullpens, batting cages, bleachers and fencing were installed.

The four new fields include a 90-foot diamond with a grass infield, a 60/70-foot diamond with a grass infield, a 60/70-foot diamond with a dirt infield and a 60-foot diamond with a dirt infield.

New lighting and a 173-space parking lot were also installed. Utilities were connected for future construction of restrooms and a concession stand.

Funding for the $4.15 million project came from park bonds, according to the Park Authority.
