Police blotter: Man assaulted, robbed not far from incident earlier in week

A man was violently mugged early Friday morning, not far from where a similar incident took place earlier this week, according to today’s Fairfax County Police blotter.

The victim was walking home when he approached by two men in the 7100 block of Richmond Highway around 1:50 a.m. last night, police said. The assailants proceeded to assault him and took money before fleeing.

Police did not report the extent of the man’s injuries.

The incident comes days after another violent mugging days earlier in the same area.

On Monday two men assaulted a 42-year-old man near the Meadow Woods apartments in the 7100 block of Mint Place. In that case, the muggers took the man’s cell phone and passport. The beating was severe enough that the victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Descriptions of the attackers in the two incidents were not similar, however.

In this morning’s robbery the first suspect was described as black, 40-45 years old, about 6 feet tall, with a stocky build, and had a light beard. The second suspect was described as white or Hispanic, 30-35 years old, and 6 feet tall.

The suspects in Monday’s attack were described as black, in their early 20s, and both skinny.
