Police blotter: Intoxicated man assaults, urinates on police officers

A Maryland man is facing multiple charges after an incident at a Route 1 check cashing store went from frightening to disgusting yesterday.

According to today’s blotter, police were called to the store in the 7300 block of Richmond Highway just before 6 p.m. after a report of a man waving a gun around. Officers responded and located the man, who they say appeared to be “extremely intoxicated.”

The 34-year-old suspect, a resident of Suitland, Maryland, was arrested and taken into custody without incident; police say his weapon turned out to be a pellet gun.

After the arrest, however, the suspect allegedly became violent with officers. While struggling he allegedly kicked, spit and urinated on them.

The suspect was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he faces charges of disorderly conduct, drunk in public, possession of suspected PCP, felony destruction of property (for kicking and damaging a police vehicle), and two counts of assault on law enforcement.

No injuries were reported by police.

Other crimes on the blotter reported in the Mount Vernon police district yesterday:

Larceny: 5500 block of Sacramento Mews Place, package from residence
Larceny: 6600 block of Wakefield Drive, passport from residence
