Fairfax County Police have released images of a man suspected of stealing a 69-year-old woman’s purse at a shopping center on Richmond Highway last month.

The incident took place around 7 p.m. on Feb. 21 in the parking lot of the Beacon Center. The suspect stole the woman’s purse from the passenger side of her car as she was getting into the driver’s seat, police said.  The victim was shaken up by the crime, but not physically injured, police said.

The case received publicity this week due to the actions of the responding officer, who personally delivered the woman a rosary to replace the one that had been inside her purse.

Police described the suspect as being white, around 25-28 years old, and about 5 foot 5 inches tall and 140 pounds. He was seen getting into a light-colored pickup truck with a ladder rack.
