The Lee District Association of Civic Organizations will hold its monthly meeting Wednesday evening at the Franconia Governmental Center.
This month’s main topic will be the county’s Communities of Trust program, which was created two years ago “to advance collaboration, partnerships, and outreach between public safety agencies and the communities they serve.”
Board of Supervisors Chairman Sharon Bulova established the program in Jan. 2015 in the wake of unrest in Ferguson, Missouri after an unarmed man was shot and killed by a police officer. The Communities of Trust Committee is composed of more than 35 civic groups, individuals and public safety agencies, including the Fairfax County Police, the Virginia State Police, the FBI and various faith-based groups.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m., and there will be free pizza.
